During the months of June and July the number of FCL’s exported to the Middle east increased to break previous records. Over 2000 teus were handled by dap UK Ltd.

Ian White, ┬áManaging Director based at Felixstowe stated ┬áthat “As well as containers which are shipped to UAE, Saudi Arabia and the Arabian peninsula, we are also using the Middle East to transship cargo which is consigned to Iran, Iraq and the east coast of Africa. What is encouraging in respect of British exports is that the number of SME’s using our services has increased dramatically. Many are just starting out with LCL shipments whilst others are actively targeting the Middle East for increased sales as they prepare for new markets post Brexit. Our agency network in these areas can provide the required clearance facilities and on-carriage to many inland destinations and these are the value added services which are proving very popular. We acknowledge that part of our success is due to the chosen lines operating these routes having been very proactive and supportive and together we have both seen business grow. We are seeing a general increase in enquiries to Iraq and Iran and whilst understandably exporters are nervous about the political and civil problems which still exist in these countries, we are seeing more activity and desire to ship to these markets.”
